Do you enjoy working on the technical foundations of Kubernetes while keeping the impact on the overall system in view?
We are looking for you as a Tech Lead Kubernetes (m/f/d) for a company that provides agencies with a Kubernetes-based bare metal platform. The position is being further defined as part of a restructuring. The plan is to organise the infrastructure teams more closely around technical domains.
You will advance a technical domain and connect its perspective with the platform and neighbouring areas. The role can be performed remotely from anywhere in Germany. Occasional visits to the office in Espelkamp are welcome, particularly at the start of the collaboration.
Your responsibilities
- You will take subject-matter responsibility for a technical domain, such as storage, networking or managed services.
- You will connect your domain’s perspective with the entire technical chain and the platform.
- You will analyse problems at kernel level and work on observability, scaling limits and bottlenecks.
- You will develop platform components such as backup and storage setups, as well as network and ingress architecture.
- You will work on stability and scalability and enable new infrastructure features.
- You will contribute subject-matter input to discussions about technical decisions and the emerging roadmap.
- You will share knowledge and provide subject-matter support to team members.
What you bring
What you should have:
- A basic understanding of Kubernetes at kernel level, including pods, cgroups and kernel namespaces
- Practical system administration knowledge and an understanding of Linux
- The ability and willingness to explore and develop relevant technical topics
- An awareness of system stability when changes are made
- The ability to discuss technical matters in German or English
Experience with the following is a plus:
- In-depth expertise in an infrastructure domain such as networking, storage or Kubernetes
- Kernel-level debugging, analysis and identifying scaling limits
- Knowledge sharing and mentoring
- Explaining technical impacts clearly
- Developing subject-matter decisions collaboratively
What makes this role interesting
You can help develop a technical domain and its overall process. The technical roadmap and future domain-oriented team structure are currently being developed together.
The platform runs on bare metal. This allows you to consider infrastructure topics from the technical foundations upwards and help further develop system stability and scalability. Depending on your interests, the role also offers insights into new infrastructure topics, AI hosting and operating your own AI models.
Here, the Tech Lead title describes a subject-matter representative and interface role. The position does not involve overall technical responsibility or a traditional line management role.
Terms and conditions
- Remote work possible from anywhere in Germany
- Occasional visits to the office in Espelkamp are welcome, with no set frequency
- Full-time at 40 hours or flexible part-time arrangements
- Permanent contract
- Flexible working hours with core hours from 10 am to 2 pm. Work can start from 6 am
- 30 days of annual leave
- Occupational pension provision, training opportunities and free choice of hardware
- The onboarding period can involve more intensive on-site work at the start
