Can you reliably operate Oracle databases in a high-availability environment and trace technical causes down to infrastructure level?

We are looking for an Oracle Database Administrator (m/f/d) for a medium-sized technology company in a security-sensitive environment. You will work with an Oracle database landscape comprising Oracle 19c and legacy systems on Oracle 11g.

The permanent position is full-time. The working model is hybrid; regular attendance in Bad Homburg is part of the role. The position is open to both experienced professionals and young professionals; mentoring is available for young professionals.

Your remit combines stable operations with the further development and modernisation of the database infrastructure. We are looking for an operationally strong DBA who considers technical concepts and takes responsibility for production systems.

Your responsibilities

  • You operate the Oracle database landscape, focusing on Oracle 19c, and also look after Oracle 11g systems.
  • You work with RAC clusters and ensure high availability with Data Guard.
  • You plan and implement backup and recovery with RMAN, as well as resource and storage allocation with ASM.
  • You administer Linux systems in the database environment, optimise kernel parameters and use shell scripting.
  • You monitor database availability, identify bottlenecks early and further develop monitoring strategies.
  • You analyse complex incidents and performance issues and address their root causes sustainably.
  • You plan new database installations and support patches, upgrades, reorganisations and migrations.
  • You contribute to concepts for modernising legacy systems and automate routine tasks, for example with Ansible.

What you bring

What you should have:

  • Extensive practical experience administering Oracle databases
  • Knowledge of Oracle 19c or demonstrable experience with comparable Oracle versions
  • Understanding of Oracle 11g legacy environments
  • Experience with production databases and high-availability environments
  • Knowledge of Oracle RAC and Data Guard, or a clear capacity to learn
  • Experience with RMAN for backup and recovery, and a basic understanding of ASM
  • Linux skills in database operations and shell skills for administration and automation
  • Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting and performance analysis
  • German language skills at C2 level or above and working English
  • IT vocational training, an IT degree or comparable demonstrable practical experience
  • Willingness and eligibility to undergo a Ü2 security screening
  • Care when handling production systems and confidential project content

Experience with the following is a plus:

  • Ansible and automation of routine tasks
  • SAN and storage environments
  • Technical concept development and modernisation of legacy systems

What makes this role interesting

You will work in a production-critical environment where stability, availability and confidentiality are part of everyday technical operations. In addition to operational duties, the role also involves modernising existing systems and contributing to long-term technical concepts.

The role combines operational responsibility with professional development. According to the briefing, opportunities include developing your Oracle and high-availability expertise, as well as possible professional progression towards Senior DBA or an Expert Track. Young professionals can receive mentoring.

  • Permanent full-time position
  • Hybrid working model with regular attendance in Bad Homburg
  • Flexible working hours based on trust
  • 30 days of annual leave, plus special leave
  • In-house training, a development programme and individual professional development opportunities
  • Contribution towards canteen meals and free company parking
